The record set by Diego Maradona and Pelé that Lamine Yamal will not be able to break

Lamine Yamal has managed to set several records and has surpassed the early marks set by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

In fact, he has scored 50 goals earlier than the two soccer stars did, but he was unable to surpass the historic record set by Diego Maradona and Pelé.

Lamine couldn’t beat Diego Maradona or Pelé

At 18 years, 7 months, and 22 days old, the young Barcelona talent has contributed 6 goals and 12 assists to the Spanish national team, while with Barcelona he has scored 44 goals and made 15 assists.

During Barcelona’s match against Athletic Club at San Mamés on Saturday, March 7, Yamal scored the winning goal for Hansi Flick’s team in the 68th minute and made history with this goal, reaching 50 official goals in his sporting career, and doing so much earlier than Lionel and Cristiano.

The Portuguese star was 20 years, 10 months, and 9 days old when he reached this milestone, while the Argentine icon was 21 years, 8 months, and 28 days old. However, despite surpassing these two soccer giants in this important record by more than two years ahead of Messi and almost three years ahead of Cristiano, he was unable to surpass Maradona and Pelé.

The Argentine star reached his 50th goal when he was 18 years, 6 months, and 11 days old, on May 13, 1979, wearing the Argentinos Juniors jersey, almost 40 days before Lamine. Meanwhile, O Rei was just 16 years and 7 months old when he reached this milestone when Santos beat Lavras 7-1 in June 1957, according to Bolavip.

The truth is that despite not having achieved this feat before these two soccer legends, his early career has historic statistics, records, and achievements. In fact, surpassing legends such as Lionel or CR7 in terms of precocity gives an idea of the impact of his play and his scoring ability.

Even so, his early numbers invite us to imagine a huge future for the young Barcelona player, on a path that is just beginning and that, if he keeps up this pace, could lead him to be the subject of historic conversations alongside great soccer figures such as those he has just beaten.

Meanwhile, Barcelona’s next match will be on Tuesday against Newcastle United in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 at St. James’ Park. They will then face Sevilla FC at Spotify Camp Nou for LaLiga on March 15.
