The NFL’s new Flag Football league is here: The next nig thing in sports

The Flag Football hype train has officially left the station, and on its way, it is carrying some of the biggest names in sports history. On Monday, March 30, 2026, the NFL announced a groundbreaking partnership with TMRW Sports Group to launch a new professional flag football league for both men and women.

This strategic move serves to capitalize what the NFL called an “unprecedented global momentum.” With popularity increasing nd a spotlight waiting at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, flag football is no longer just a playground pastime it is a professional frontier.

From Brady to Serena

What makes this announcement particularly curious and grounded is the sheer volume of legendary athletes putting their own capital and reputation behind it. The league is not just backed by the NFL’s 32 clubs (who authorized an initial $32 million investment), it is fueled by a lot of sports icons.

The investor group includes seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady, alongside Peyton and Eli Manning, Joe Montana, Steve Young, and Larry Fitzgerald. Current stars like Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner are also in the mix. Tom Brady said:

“Flag football’s rapid rise has been incredible. The extensive list of current and former players supporting this league shows just how strongly athletes believe in its future

The Champions of women’s sports

Perhaps most importantly, the league is leaning heavily into the explosion of interest in women’s athletics. Investors include tennis legend Serena Williams, soccer star Alex Morgan, and the iconic Billie Jean King.

For King, this league represents a long-overdue stage for female athletes.

“The momentum behind women’s sports has never been stronger

The NFL selected TMRW Sports to develop and operate the league. This is the same innovative group founded by Mike McCarley, Rory McIlroy, and Tiger Woods.
