Dave Portnoy has spent years proving that old grudges rarely stay buried in sports media, and a routine Celebrity Jeopardy! promotion gave him another chance to drag Mina Kimes back into one of his most bitter public feuds.
The Barstool Sports founder reacted Tuesday after the official Jeopardy! account promoted an upcoming Celebrity Jeopardy! All-Stars semifinal featuring Lisa Ann Walter, Katie Nolan and Kimes, the ESPN analyst and NFL commentator.
Portnoy turned the game show post into a direct attack, reviving his anger over Kimes’ response to a 2021 Business Insider report that included allegations of sexual misconduct against him, which he has repeatedly denied.
“Who retweeted a blatantly false hit piece on you not once but twice within 10 minutes of it being published and then when you provided her evidence it was all bullshit blocked you?” Portnoy wrote on X.
He then added: “Answer – That piece of sh*t Mina Kimes.”
Why is Dave Portnoy still furious with Mina Kimes?
The roots of the feud stretch back to November 2021, when Business Insider published allegations against Portnoy. He strongly denied any non-consensual conduct at the time and called the article a “hit piece.”
Kimes shared the article after it was published and described it on X as “a really upsetting, well reported story.”
She also wrote: “Judging by the replies—there are way too many people who still don’t understand the concept of consent.”
Those posts have remained a major source of anger for Portnoy, who has repeatedly accused Kimes of amplifying a story he says was false.
In April 2025, he again referenced the dispute on X, writing: “I DM’d @minakimes a mountain of evidence proving beyond a shadow of a doubt the hit piece was 100% garbage and politely asked for a retraction. Instead she blocked me.”
Portnoy later sued Insider for defamation in 2022, but the lawsuit was dismissed. Axios reported in 2023 that he dropped his appeal, ending the legal battle. Insider stood by its reporting, saying at the time: “Our stories were accurate and fair.”
Feud returns during Kimes’ Jeopardy moment
Kimes has not publicly responded to Portnoy’s latest attack.
The timing gave the feud a strange new stage. The Jeopardy! post was meant to promote a celebrity competition, not revisit one of sports media’s more toxic disputes. But Portnoy’s response quickly shifted attention away from the show and back toward his unresolved anger at Kimes.
Portnoy has built much of his public persona around confrontation, often revisiting past conflicts with journalists, media figures and critics. Kimes, one of ESPN’s most prominent NFL voices, has largely avoided turning the dispute into a recurring public back-and-forth.
That imbalance is part of what keeps the story alive. Portnoy continues to insist he was wronged by people who shared or praised the Business Insider reporting, while Kimes has not appeared interested in relitigating the issue publicly.
For now, a game show promo has become the latest reminder that Portnoy’s feud with Kimes is far from over.
