The NFL announces the Cowboys-Chiefs game with a special tribute to Dak Prescott

The NFL appeared to signal something more intentional this week, offering a carefully framed spotlight on Dak Prescott a day before the Thanksgiving matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and the Kansas City Chiefs.

A routine promotional post from the league quickly drew outsized attention, serving as a brief celebration of Prescott‘s latest achievements.

The league highlighted Prescott, with the league captioning the photo “Dak leads a group of Dallas greats,” a choice that was notable given his recent rise into the franchise’s record books.

Prescott’s milestone arrives just as the spotlight intensifies

The renewed league attention comes on the heels of Prescott‘s historic achievement against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Widely chronicled by national outlets, Prescott led a comeback from a 21-0 deficit, threw for 354 yards and two touchdowns, added a rushing score, and surpassed Tony Romo to become the Cowboys‘ all-time leader in passing yards.

The comeback and the record were featured heavily in national highlight packages, including analysis from Fox Sports, which underscored the moment’s significance for both Prescott and the franchise’s broader identity.

After his performance, Prescott vaulted up to No. 3 in the latest quarterback rankings from NFL.com’s QB Index.

Prescott‘s resurgence backed by powerful metrics

Through the early stretch of the 2025 season, Prescott has quietly reestablished himself among the league’s elite. With a 71.6% completion rate, 1,617 passing yards and 13 touchdowns in his first six games, his production stacks up favorably against recent MVP seasons.

Last month, Stephen A. Smith declared Prescott “a leading candidate for MVP honors the way he’s playing right now,” pointing to a streak featuring 71% completions, over 270 yards per game, and a string of touchdowns with no interceptions.

With career milestones piling up, Prescott is rapidly climbing the franchise record books. He currently ranks first in completions and completion percentage, second in touchdowns, and is chasing the all-time passing yards and wins records previously held by legends like Tony Romo and Troy Aikman.

The renewed spotlight on Prescott is about momentum. The Cowboys‘ offense, old yet dangerous, still hinges on his ability to deliver in clutch moments.

With weapons around him, recovering or emerging, like breakout receiver George Pickens, the passing game could hit new heights if Prescott stays sharp.
