The Mets are undoubtedly the winners of the MLB offseason

In the early moves of the MLB season, the New York Mets have flexed their muscles by signing big-name players with the aim of being a leading team and reaching the World Series, which they fell two games short of reaching last season.

The arrival of Juan Soto is one of the most significant of the year and the Mets have been labeled as the big winner in signings so far this offseason. The Dominican player joins an enviable list to consider them as a title-contending team in 2025.

In addition to Soto, the New York Mets kept Pete Alonso, Sean Manaea, Jesse Winker, Francisco Lindor, Brandon Nimmo along with Mark Vientos among the most prominent and all of them under the orders of manager Carlos Mendoza.

The Mets, who came within a whisker of the World Series last year, are keeping their fans’ hopes alive, but there are contrary opinions that they are not the strongest in the Big Apple’s neighborhood.

What can weaken the Mets’ power?

Pitching is sometimes a very delicate point in lineups. There can be a lot of strength in the hitters, but if the pitches from the mound are not accurate, the million-dollar investment can go over the fence.

The New York Mets have Kodai Senga, David Peterson, Clay Holmes and Frankie Montas, who are considered elite starters, but they have a promising bullpen and have the task of having a reliable closer again with Edwin Diaz.

When Steve Cohen bought the blue and orange team, he not only proposed to turn them into a dynasty in the Queens neighborhood, but for all of New York. This was blasphemy for some, as the New York Yankees have held that honor for several decades.

However, the Bronx Bombers, despite having reached the Fall Classic last year, have become a veteran team and therefore young signings must also arrive.

A couple of signings shook up the trade market with the arrival of 30-year-old pitcher Max Fried and Cody Bellinger, who has not enjoyed his best form since 2020 with the Dodgers. However, it is worth mentioning Paul Goldschmidt, Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton as great Yankees players, but time marches on and they are no longer young.

New York City has a good chance of hosting the World Series again in October 2025. But the question is, will it be the Yankees again or will the Mets be the powerhouse team in the Big Apple?
