The generous salary Mike Tyson will receive for commentating on Ryan Garcia-Rolly Romero fight thanks to Turki Alalshikh

Mike Tyson is back in the boxing spotlight, not with gloves, but with a microphone.

The former heavyweight champion will serve as a guest analyst for the highly anticipated Fatal Fury event featuring Ryan Garcia and Rolly Romero on May 2nd in Times Square, and while the punches will be flying in the ring, Tyson’s paycheck is also set to make an impact.

Tyson announced his involvement earlier this week, posting on X, “Can’t wait! I’ll be there in Times Square as guest analyst,” confirming his role in providing live insights during the main event, which is being broadcast globally via DAZN pay-per-view.

Though the exact amount of Tyson‘s fee hasn’t been officially disclosed, industry standards and past appearances suggest it’s substantial.

According to Celebrity Talent International, Tyson commands between $150,000 and $200,000 for speaking engagements – and with the profile of this event, it’s likely he’s earning at the higher end of that range, if not more.

Tyson joins a blockbuster event backed by Saudi money

The entire card is being promoted as part of the Fatal Fury crossover series, a project connected to the iconic video game franchise.

With Saudi Arabia’s Turki Alalshikh, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, pulling the strings behind the scenes, this is no ordinary fight night.

From lavish production to tight VIP guest lists of 100-300 people, the stakes are as high as the spectacle.

Garcia, returning from controversy after testing positive for PEDs in the aftermath of his bout with Devin Haney, will headline the night as he takes on Rolando “Rolly” Romero.

Despite being fined and suspended by the New York State Athletic Commission – and forfeiting over $1 million from his previous purse – Garcia is eager to reclaim his image in front of a global audience.

But Tyson won’t be alone at ringside. The iconic Jim Lampley is also making a comeback after a six-year absence from the sport.

Lampley, known for his legendary voice during HBO’s World Championship Boxing, will once again bring his seasoned perspective to a fight night – thanks again to Alalshikh’s influence and financial backing.

With both Tyson and Lampley back on commentary, the event promises to be more than just a night of fists and fury – it’s a nostalgic revival for fans craving big names and elite analysis.

The venue? Times Square, transformed into a custom boxing arena, marking the first time the heart of New York City hosts a bout of this scale.

As Boxing News 24 reported, only VIPs, select media, and a small crowd will witness the spectacle live – while millions will tune in on DAZN.

So, while Garcia is looking for redemption and Romero is chasing glory, Tyson is cashing in – and boxing is the real winner.
