The lightweight division in boxing is currently all over the place. WBO champion Keyshawn Davis was stripped of his title for missing weight. WBA champion Gervonta Davis is in legal trouble and his future is up in the air. The IBF belt is vacant at the moment.

The only constant in the division has been Shakur Stevenson, who has defended his WBC title successfully three times after winning it in late 2023. After beating William Zepeda last month, Stevenson is eyeing a big fish to fry. His attention was initially on “Tank“, but it has since shifted to Teofimo Lopez. A January date gives both boxers plenty of time to prepare and have a full training camp. The two fought two months apart, in May and July.
