Super Bowl 2025 Squares: Rules, tips and everything you need to know to make the most of the game this year

One way to make the Super Bowl more exciting is by participating in Super Bowl Squares, a game in which you don’t need to understand all the details of football to participate and, with a little luck, you could get a big payout, as you can also bet big

How to play Super Bowl Squares

The game is played on a 10×10 grid, with one side of the grid with the AFC champion (Kansas City Chiefs) and the other side with the NFC champion (Philadelphia Eagles). Each participant buys a square for a fixed price that can be determined by the player (for example, $5 per square). You can buy as many squares as you want.

Once all the squares have been sold or there are no more participants, each player takes turns drawing a number from 0 to 9 and assigns them to the top and side of the grid. Players can see which numbers their grid is assigned to and then the game can begin with the kickoff.

How to win Super Bowl Squares?

The winner is determined by the final score of each quarter. For example, if the score at the end of the first quarter is 13-10 in favor of the Eagles, whoever has the number 3 on the NFC side and the number 0 on the AFC side will be the winner of that quarter.

If the game goes to overtime, the final score is usually used instead of the fourth quarter score.

How much money can you win in Super Bowl Squares?

The winnings depend on the money collected in the pot, with each player’s entry and the way the participants decide to divide it. Normally, at the end of each quarter, 25% of the amount is awarded.

Another way is to pay out at halftime and the rest at the end of the game, with a larger portion. For example, those winners are given 30%, while 20% is given to the first and third quarters. Another way is to give the winner of the final score the biggest payout of the night, such as 40%, while the first three quarters receive only 20%.

What are the best squares for the Super Bowl?

The best squares to play, are usually 0, 1, 3, 4 and 7 because they are the most frequent last digit numbers in multiples of seven, as touchdowns with extra point are worth seven points and field goals are worth three

While the Harvard Sports Analysis Collective claims that the best box to have is the seven in the axis of the favorite in the betting

If you’re looking for the best squares, those with 7-0 and 3-0 have been chosen 20 times in Super Bowl history, according to Print Your Brackets, which is the most frequent, while the second with 19 selections is 0-0.

The worst squares to play are 2, 5 and 9. The 2-2 and 2-5 squares are among the worst, because it usually takes some combination of safeties, missed extra points, two-point conversions or low-scoring games to get them

Print Your Brackets says there are 12 pairs that were never winners: 1-1, 2-1, 3-2, 5-2, 5-3, 5-4, 5-5, 6-2, 6-5, 8-7, 8-8, 9-0.
