Steve Cohen ‘threatens’ Dodgers that Mets could do the same: Why he said it

New York Mets owner Steven A. Cohen has issued a direct warning to the Los Angeles Dodgers after their recent big-money moves in the winter transfer window, where they have proven to be masters in the art of spending money to win titles.

The Mets magnate has not kept quiet and in a statement that resonated like a home run, Cohen said that his team is ready to compete for the major league championship against any team.

After they had bet heavily on Juan Soto with a historic $765 million contract that did not quite work out and added to the departure of key players such as Pete Alonso, Brandon Nimmo, Jeff McNeil and Edwin Diaz, Steve Cohen is not losing hope of competing and achieving the long-awaited title.

The Dodgers are formidable, they have the ability to spend… so do I, by the way

Steve Cohen

These were the words of the Mets president who issued a warning not only to the Dodgers but also to all MLB teams ahead of next season, as well as being a reminder that the franchise is willing to compete with great financial capital in the search for the trophy that has eluded them for years.

Juan Soto’s optimism about Bo Bichette’s arrival

With Alonso‘s departure, the New York Mets moved quickly and signed two-time All-Star Bo Bichette to a three-year, $126 million deal, breaking the transfer market. Soto, who is one of Steve Cohen’s big signings from last season, sees Bo as a great teammate.

I think the front office made good moves. They made changes for great players and now we are a great team. When we look at the roster, we know it’s very complete. We have Bo, I trust him. He’s a great hitter. He can hit home runs and hit for average. That’s great protection.

Juan Soto

The Dominican outfielder, like his president, is confident in his team and is excited about the new additions to the team, predicting a great season for the Mets.
