Travis Kelce is on track to become a free agent following the 2026 offseason, and there are no indications that he plans to extend his tenure with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Recently, Kelce opened up about his life after football on an episode of his “New Heights” podcast, offering fans a glimpse of his post-retirement vision amid a tough season for the team.
Sophie Cunningham, the WNBA star, shared her reaction to the tight end’s age and comments during her “Show Me Something” podcast on Thursday.
“Travis is 36?” Cunningham said. “That is pretty old for football. I was thinking 30, 31, or 32 would be pretty old for football.”
Kelce has been a cornerstone of the Chiefs since they drafted him in the third round in 2013. Over the years, he has helped the franchise reach five Super Bowls, winning three of them, and has solidified his reputation as one of the NFL’s top tight ends.
Kelce continues to deliver on the field
This season, Kelce has remained one of the most reliable offensive weapons for Kansas City, recording 719 receiving yards with five touchdowns on 59 catches. He is aiming to extend his streak of Pro Bowl selections to 11.
The Chiefs (6-6) are preparing to face the Houston Texans (7-5) in Week 14 of the 2025 NFL season at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, with kickoff set for 8:20 p.m. ET on Sunday.
The Texans have gained momentum, winning four straight games and putting themselves in playoff contention. Meanwhile, Kelce and the Chiefs are hoping to bounce back from their recent Thanksgiving Day loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
For Kansas City to secure a postseason spot, Kelce may need to channel his peak form once again.
