The UEFA Champions League is in its final stages and there are still teams that must secure their qualification to the round of 16 or the next round of the competition. One of them is Barcelona, which is in 15th place in the standings, but if they beat Slavia Prague today, they could be among the eight best teams in the competition.

Hansi Flick’s side have had a very good start to 2026, where they remain top of LaLiga and also won the Spanish Super Cup against Real Madrid. However, their unbeaten run in the year ended with the last defeat against Real Sociedad, so they want to return to winning ways in the Champions League.

Barcelona wants to be among the top eight in the Champions League

Barcelona’s season so far has been more than positive. The Catalan team is top of LaLiga, won the Spanish Super Cup and advanced to the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey. However, in the Champions League they have been more inconsistent and, for now, they are not in the qualifying zone for the round of 16.

Flick’s team has three wins, one draw and two defeats in six Champions League matches, which puts them in 15th place, but if they win today they could reach eighth place if certain results go their way.

Qualifying directly for the round of 16 would be ideal for Barcelona, as it would mean playing one less round, which is welcome in a season with so many matches.

This is how Slavia Prague arrives to the match against Barcelona in the Champions League

The reality for Slavia Prague is totally different. The Czech team is in 34th place in the Champions League table, where they have three defeats and three draws in six games.

The Czech team is practically out of the Champions League, but they will be looking to spring a surprise against Barcelona to see if they can miraculously make it to the next phase.

In the league, the situation is different, as Prague is the leader of the Czech league and it is there where they have all their energy to seek the championship.

What time is Slavia Prague vs Barcelona?

The match for matchday seven of the Champions League will be on Wednesday, January 21 at 3PM ET / 12PM PT.

Where to watch Slavia Prague vs Barcelona in the United States?

The match will be available to watch on CBS Sports and Paramount+.
