Luka Doncic is having an impressive campaign, posting truly spectacular numbers. That has placed him firmly in the conversation to become the MVP of the season. However, there are certain aspects of his game that still fail to convince everyone.
One of the strongest critics of the Slovenian is Skip Bayless, who typically directs his sharp commentary toward LeBron James. This time, however, he shifted his focus to the European star and did not hold back.
Bayless spent several minutes delivering a harsh critique of Doncic, making it clear that he does not share the widespread sentiment pushing for him to be named MVP.

The television commentator shared a video across his social media platforms in which he outlined his detailed criticism of the Los Angeles Lakers player.
I just can’t wrap my head around Luka Doncic as an offensive basketball player.”… “Obviously, Luka is running away with the scoring title. Way to go, Luka. But how is he doing that?
The ball is going to be in his hands about, you know, going on 40% of the time … on top of that, as he does, (he) attempts the most shots in the league by far, and he attempts the most three-point shots in the league by far.
Bayless said.
That was not all, as he also took aim at what many consider an obvious truth, but not for him: Doncic’s status as a star.
He’s pretty awful.”…”The truth is, certainly by star or superstar standards, he’s pretty awful. But he’ll have these jags, these heat-check stretches where he’ll make two or three, and we say, ‘God, that’s incredible.’

Doncic may not be to Skip Bayless’ liking, but there is no denying that he has delivered a memorable season with the Lakers.

Now, defensively, I’ve got to give him his flowers, at least one. “…”I’ll just give you one, Luka, because he’s been much better on defense, especially of late, and has moved all the way up to 30th in defensive win shares.
For Bayless, this kind of commentary reinforces his reputation as a harsh critic, and perhaps also as someone who thrives on drawing attention to his social media platforms through provocative takes.
