Sinner on Alcaraz’s number 1: “I’d be lying if I said I feel super happy”

Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, who have shared the last eight Grand Slam titles and all of this season’s titles in which they have coincided in the draw of a tournament, are still in the fight to be crowned masters at the ATP Finals in Turin. On Saturday, they will play their semi-finals against Alex de Minaur and Felix Auger-Aliassime, respectively.

The first blow has been struck by Alcaraz, who has secured the number one spot at the end of the season and until the next edition of the Australian Open (January 18 to February 1).

The awards ceremony for Carlitos as the best tennis player of 2025 coincided with Sinner’s appearance on court to play his last match of the group stage with Ben Shelton.

The two best tennis players of the moment met in the tunnel of the locker room and shook hands. “Bravo,” said the San Candido player to his closest rival.

He later confessed that “of course I’m happy for Carlos, but if I say I’m super happy I would be lying. The reality is that he deserves it because he has won eight titles, two of them Grand Slam and has been able to handle the pressure well.”
