Shedeur Sanders will remain the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns; a strong statement from a future Hall of Famer

The NFL is an extremely competitive league, perhaps the best in the world; you either respond immediately or your career quickly becomes temporary. This Sunday, the opportunity Shedeur Sanders has dreamed about since childhood has finally arrived, especially after growing up watching his father, Deion Sanders, perform magic in the NFL – a career that ended in the Hall of Fame.

Now it is Shedeur Sanders’ moment. He was rejected by NFL teams over and over again. The former Colorado Buffaloes star had been projected as a first-round pick in the recent Draft, having surpassed 4,000 passing yards in his final NCAA season with 37 touchdown passes, and was also a Heisman Trophy candidate.

Even so, players, rounds, and quarterbacks kept going by, and Shedeur Sanders’ name still wasn’t called – until the fifth round, when the Cleveland Browns selected him with pick No. 144. But by then, the damage had already been done. Before selecting Sanders, the Browns had already taken Dillon Gabriel, and the roster also included Kenny Pickett and Joe Flacco. The situation was – and remains – complicated for Sanders.

Rob Gronkowski had positive things to say about Shedeur Sanders

From being a fifth-round pick and entering training camp as the fourth option, the moment has now arrived. With Dillon Gabriel in concussion protocol, Shedeur now has the chance to start a game, though the pressure will be greater than ever.

His debut was difficult, entering early in the third quarter against the Baltimore Ravens. The Browns were leading 16-10 but ended up losing 16-23. During his time on the field, Sanders could not lead a scoring drive; he completed 4 of 16 passes for 47 yards and threw an interception.

There is no doubt that expectations for Shedeur Sanders’ first start are high, and many will be watching closely, including future Hall of Famer Rob Gronkowski, who believes Sanders will shine next Sunday: “I think he gets a win. I think he stays consistent. I think he remains the starting quarterback of the Cleveland Browns.”

There is clearly division among fans and analysts: some want to see him shine, while others have never believed in Shedeur Sanders. His moment has arrived, and he has a lot to prove. Sportsbooks aren’t particularly confident in the Browns either, who enter the
