The Cleveland Browns rookie finally got his shot in the NFL, and we have to say it: Shedeur Sanders played well enough to earn the starting job once again – this time against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 13. None of this would have happened, though, had Dillon Gabriel not been forced into the NFL concussion protocol, which once again leaves everything up in the air for when he’s fully cleared.
Browns fans are riding an emotional high after seeing what the young QB is capable of – especially with news about the Cleveland Browns quarterback battle breaking this very Monday.
Shedeur Sanders and a message that fires everyone up
On Monday it was confirmed that Dillon Gabriel had cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol, but Kevin Stefanski had no choice but to give in and announce that Shedeur Sanders would remain the starter following the recent win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
Almost immediately, Sanders took to Instagram to post a powerful message of gratitude: “Thank you GOD,” the caption read alongside a series of photos and videos from the latest victory.
The former Colorado Buffaloes QB finished 11-of-20 for 209 passing yards, with one touchdown and one interception in a road win.
On top of that, his 66-yard touchdown pass became the longest scoring play by a rookie quarterback this season. There’s no question things have changed dramatically since going 4-of-16 with an interception the week before – the same game in which Gabriel had to leave the field.
This is just another chapter in the ongoing Browns QB controversy that has unfolded inside the organization since the NFL Draft, in a quarterback room that at one point had four players before Kenny Pickett and Joe Flacco departed.
