After refusing to extend his working relationship with Rayados de Monterrey, the legendary Spanish defender is reportedly close to opening a new chapter as a club owner. Sergio Ramos is said to have reached a preliminary agreement with the main shareholders of Sevilla to begin formal negotiations with a view to buying the club where he was formed and made his professional debut.

Sergio Ramos and a possible historic return to Sevilla

Although he has not yet announced his retirement as a footballer, Sergio Ramos is currently without a team and is already beginning to look beyond the pitch. The Andalusian defender has taken a firm step into the business world by submitting a bid of around 400 million euros to acquire Sevilla, a team with which he has a strong emotional bond.

According to information from Radio Sevilla and confirmed by EFE, the proposal was communicated informally to some shareholders a couple of weeks ago.

The figure is said to have convinced the owning families, who agreed to open an exclusive negotiation period to review the club’s accounts and assess the viability of the deal.

Why does Sergio Ramos want to buy Sevilla?

Ramos is no stranger to the Sanchez-Pizjuan, as Sevilla was the team that trained him as a footballer and where he excelled to be sought after by Real Madrid, the club where he showed his best football

The Spanish defender had two spells in the first team, one before joining Los Blancos and a second after leaving PSG in 2021. However, this third spell would be in a completely different role, as an owner, with the aim of bringing stability and a long-term vision and returning the legendary team to the top of LaLiga.

Sergio Ramos forms alliance with Martin Ink to buy Sevilla

To carry out this ambitious operation, Sergio Ramos has partnered with Argentine businessman Martin Ink, CEO of Five Eleven Capital, a US capital soccer holding company. This alliance seeks to provide financial support to the project and ensure the economic strength needed to compete at the elite level of Spanish soccer.

Five Eleven Capital is no stranger to the Sevilla environment, as the group has been professionally linked with Antonio Cordon, the club’s current sporting director, a detail that reinforces the connection between the parties involved and could facilitate the negotiation process.

Where will Sergio Ramos play in 2026?

After leaving Liga MX, Sergio Ramos is a free agent, but he is currently without a team and, as he approaches his 40th birthday, it is likely that the Spanish defender will opt to announce his retirement from professional soccer to focus on his role as co-owner, as well as his foray into urban music.
