Sergio Ramos became the face of Rayados in 2025 when he was announced as one of the great figures of the Liga MX.

With a year left on his contract, the 2010 World Cup winner with Spain guided Monterrey in the Club World Cup and in the Liguilla of the Apertura 2025, which came to an end with a 3-2 defeat in Toluca. They were eliminated by their position in the table despite the 3-3 scoreline.

At the end of his working relationship with Rayados, Ramos and the Monterrey club are in talks to be able to stay together in 2026, but there are differences in the negotiations.

According to the broadcast of the match on TUDN, the Rayados captain wants a one-year contract to re-sign, but the board headed by Jose Antonio Noriega is proposing a six-month offer.

According to Tato Noriega, talks with Sergio Ramos were on hold while the Liguilla was taking place, but the tournament is now over for the team and so is the stage of its captain.
