It’s no secret that the Raiders’ season is all but finished. With a 2-9 record, they’re among the NFL’s worst teams, sitting just above the 1-10 Tennessee Titans.
Following a loss to the Dallas Cowboys two weeks ago, Smith grew frustrated with repeated media questions and declared, “I keep saying this. If something doesn’t look right out there, blame it on me.”
Half-joking, half-serious, Smith doubled down: “That’s all you can do-blame it on me. If your kid messes up at school, blame it on me. Car breaks down on the way to work? Blame it on me.” One Raiders fan clearly took him at his word.

A viral video on X (formerly Twitter) shows flashing police lights filmed from inside a car. The caption simply reads: “Thank you, Geno Smith.”
The account MLFootball shared the clip explaining:
“A RAIDERS FAN GOT PULLED OVER BY COPS AND BLAMES GENO SMITH FOR HIS ARREST. Geno did tell all fans to blame everything on him.”
Fans quickly chimed in. One wrote: “The most Raider thing ever-we’re losing and getting locked up.” Another quipped: “Both got intercepted and lost hard.”
What’s next for Smith and the Raiders?
Surprisingly, with six games left, the Raiders still have a slim mathematical chance of reaching the playoffs. But the road ahead is brutal.
They’ll face the Chargers next, followed by the Broncos, Eagles, Texans, Giants, and Chiefs. The matchups against Houston and New York look the most winnable, but that alone won’t be enough.
If head coach Pete Carroll hopes to salvage the season, the Raiders will need a flawless finish. And if they fall short, well-Smith already knows who’ll get the blame.
