Cristiano Ronaldo will not be present at the reopening of the Estadio Azteca in the match between Mexico and Portugal on March 28. The Portuguese captain is carrying an injury and will not travel to Mexico City. His recovery is expected to take around two weeks, which rules him out of this match.
The absence has lowered expectations around the event, where his figure concentrated much of the media spotlight. Even so, Portugal maintains a squad with in-form names such as Vitinha, the undisputed leader of the Portuguese side.
One of them is Gonçalo Guedes. The Real Sociedad attacker returns to the national team after a long period out of the squad. His performance this season, with continuity and offensive weight in the Basque team, has been decisive for his return. Roberto Martinez has included him as a real alternative in attack and does not rule out his presence at the World Cup if he maintains this level.
