One of the most outspoken voices has been that of former Polish international Jan Tomaszewski, who did not hesitate to advise him to leave if he wants to finish his career fully satisfied: “We appealed three or four months ago on this subject. Robert, behave like a man. You are not just anybody. You are the most famous Pole in history, and you allow yourself to be treated like this at Barcelona?” he told ‘Super Express’.Tomaszewski was even more blunt in his position on what the striker should do: “If Robert leaves now, let Barcelona do what they want and win the Spanish league title. I am convinced that Robert, whether he plays in MLS or another team in Europe, will be treated as he deserves,” he concluded.
The Bavarian club maintains its position: it has fulfilled its obligation to offer him continuity, but made it clear that his role would be reduced and that he would not be guaranteed a starting place as a centre-forward. In fact, throughout the current season, Hansi Flick has already opted to give him less prominence at key moments.
