New Yorkers are furious about the structure of the boxing event in Times Square, which completely blocks the view

The Fatal Fury: Times Square boxing event has received mixed reactions on social media. The reality is that when the idea was first presented, it left everyone speechless. Now that the show has started, many are disappointed because the visibility is quite poor and the general public cannot see anything.

A few hours before the start of the event, a video shared by Lalos Boxing on Instagram went viral and caused outrage among the local audience: in it, a man on the other side of the event barriers took the opportunity to vent his feelings without holding back.

“So they organized a fight here in Times Square for Ryan Garcia vs. Rolly. But they fenced it off with a barricade. And the only way you can see it is with this damn screen. What’s the point of having a fight in Times Square if people can’t enjoy it or see it? Because it’s blocked off,” the user commented.

Giant barricade blocks view of ring action

What was supposed to be a unique street boxing experience in Times Square ended up disappointing fans, who were left behind a 3.6-meter barricade blocking their view.

The funny thing is that before the show, Oscar De La Hoya feared that rain would ruin the event, but it was the fences, not the weather, that caused the most frustration and disappointment.

So who are the people in the crowd?

Despite its open appearance, the ring set up in Times Square is for a select few: access is reserved exclusively for 300 VIP guests, with no tickets for sale and no on-site press coverage. The event is designed to be a global visual spectacle, using the glamour and dynamism of New York as a backdrop.

“This is nonsense, Turki tricked us.”

“It was never supposed to be open to the public, only by invitation.”

“Cut down the paper, it’s a public street, blocking access to the public is a violation of the 1st amendment.”

These were some of the comments posted on social media. The truth is that the event has already started and you can watch it exclusively on DAZN, in a week packed with boxing around the world. What is certain is that the action in the ring will not disappoint.
