Nestor Cortes infuriates Yankees fans with untimely comment

The New York Yankees‘ defeat to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series was a tough blow for fans, who will take time to recover and forgive the players who they believe were responsible for making key mistakes in Game 5.

One of those singled out is pitcher Nestor Cortes Jr., who will no longer be in the Bronx in the 2025 season, and although he will now play for the Milwaukee Brewers, Yankees fans have him in their sights and went after him, after he made a comment on social media, in which he said they were better than the Dodgers

“We were the best team. I see it that way and I’m sure everyone in that locker room sees it that way,” Cortes said, unleashing the ire of fans, who according to a tally by Total Pro Sports, told him everything, one of them wrote: “You suck,” while another reminded him that they had it won until it was his turn to pitch.

“We lost and you played a role in that,” one fan told him, while another reminded him of what would ultimately be one of the postcards of the World Series: “Thanks for the laugh and the Freeman bomb!”

Yankees bet on experience in their rotation

The Yankees rotation will feature experienced pitchers led by ace Gerrit Cole, followed by Max Fried, Carlos Rodon, Luis Gil, while the fifth spot in the order will be between Marcus Stroman and Clarke Schmidt

According to general manager Brian Cashman, the addition of key pieces will allow the team to have talented arms in the long term, which will increase the team’s chances of success.

“The older the player, the greater the risk for him. We recognize that with long-term contracts comes a greater risk of diminishing returns at the end. But it’s the cost of doing business to compete for a championship. So I don’t discount (the risk), but I’m not shying away from it either,” Cashman said.
