The Major League Soccer (MLS) Championship is looking to become the fifth major sports league in the United States and to do so it has managed to expand to 30 teams for the 2025 season. All of them will be looking for the title, which also provides a great economic prize.

It should be noted that the cash prizes are only valid for those who qualify for the Playoffs. From this point on, teams are eligible for prizes and the amount will increase as they progress through the final rounds.

The champion team takes home the top prize, while the runner-up receives another amount of money. Last season (2024) MLS awarded around $1 million among the franchises that reached the playoffs in the following order:

  • Champion: $300,000
  • Finalist: $150,000
  • Conference Finals Losers: $100,000
  • Conference Semifinals losers: $47,500

The opening whistle of the 2025 season is set to kick off on Saturday, February 22, where the San Diego FC franchise will make its debut where its main player is Hirving Lozano, better known as Chucky and a benchmark in recent years with the Mexican national team.

However, Inter Miami will be looking to live up to their billing as favorites with Lionel Messi, considered one of the best soccer players in history. They also have Luis Suarez in attack.

To commemorate its 30th season, the 2025 regular season schedule has scheduled some references to evoke its beginnings in 1996 such as the opening game between the San Jose Earthquakes when they host DC United on April 6.

In addition to the classics between cities in Los Angeles and New York, which are very attractive games nationally and will certainly be of interest beyond the borders of the United States

For those who wish to follow MLS, a total of 510 matches will be available through the MLS Season Pass on Apple TV in more than 100 countries. In addition, this platform will exclusively broadcast the stellar match of the Sunday Night matchdays, with improved production.
