Two Mexican strikers are absolutely on fire just days before the 2026 World Cup – and they’re outscoring some of the biggest names on the planet, including Erling Haaland and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Two Mexicans among the world’s top scorers

Julián Quiñones is having a monster season with Al-Qadisiya, netting 26 goals to sit second in the global scoring race. Only Harry Kane (31 goals) has more as the current European Golden Boot leader.

Meanwhile, Armando González is making waves of his own. The Chivas Guadalajara forward just hit 24 goals after bagging a brace against Pumas, cracking the worldwide Top 4.

González already won the Apertura 2025 golden boot and has added another 12 goals in the current tournament. He leads the Liga MX scoring race outright with four matchdays still to play.

What makes the Mexican dominance even more impressive is who they’ve left behind on the global charts: Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappé are on 23 goals each, while Erling Haaland sits on 22.

The surprising twist? Neither Quiñones nor González is guaranteed a spot with the Mexico national team for the World Cup. That final decision rests entirely with head coach Javier Aguirre.
