This past Saturday, March 14, 2026, fans witnessed a spectacular back-and-forth contest filled with excitement until the very end between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Denver Nuggets. The thrilling matchup was decided in overtime with a shot by Luka Doncic with just 0.5 seconds remaining, sealing a 127-125 victory.

LeBron James continues to demonstrate that the Lakers are a completely different team when he is on the court compared to when he is absent. The power, passion, and energy he injects into his teammates are unique, and that intensity can be appreciated even from outside the court, as it often produces unforgettable games.

This memorable clash also featured the presence of a distinguished spectator. Former Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova attended the game at Crypto.com Arena, sitting courtside and closely watching every moment of the action without missing a single detail of what unfolded during the matchup.

After the game concluded, Sharapova made her way toward the tunnel that leads players to the locker rooms. According to Michael J. Duarte of The Californian Post:

Tennis star Maria Sharapova waited after the game outside the Lakers’ tunnel to say hello to Luka Doncic.

The two then spent a brief moment talking while posing for photographs taken by people nearby. Shortly after the encounter, the former world champion shared the image on her social media, accompanied by a caption written in her characteristic style.

Luka Doncic’s numbers against the Denver Nuggets

Luka Doncic was, as Maria Sharapova described him, clutch for his team. The Slovenian star stole the spotlight during the matchup against the Denver Nuggets.

  • 30 points
  • 11 rebounds
  • 13 assists

Although he was not technically the top scorer of the night, the Slovenian guard delivered a brilliant performance that helped his team secure a valuable victory. Thanks to the win, the Lakers now stand in third place in the NBA’s Western Conference standings.

After delivering such an impressive performance, Doncic took a moment to address the fans of the purple and yellow franchise and share his feelings about the electric atmosphere inside the arena.

I felt like it was the best atmosphere since I’m a Laker.”…”The whole crowd was in. It was really special to witness that. Hopefully, it’s more times, but you know, I had goosebumps a little bit. It was amazing to see and to live that moment.

The next games for the Lakers

With the momentum gained from this victory, the Lakers once again find themselves near the top of the standings with legitimate championship aspirations. The inconsistencies that once troubled the team seem to be fading, while consistency is becoming a defining trait of the Los Angeles squad.

  • Houston Rockets Monday, March 16
  • Houston Rockets, Wednesday, March 18
  • Miami Heat Thursday, March 19
  • Orlando Magic Saturday, March 21
  • Detroit Pistons Monday, March 23

The upcoming schedule presents several difficult challenges, but from this point forward, every game will carry that level of intensity. The Lakers cannot afford to slow their rhythm if they want to secure their position in the postseason and continue building momentum as the playoffs approach.
