Barcelona managed to beat Celta de Vigo 1-0 at Spotify Camp Nou, thanks to a penalty kick by Lamine Yamal, but they also lost the young forward for the rest of the season.

Lamine suffered an injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg, as reported by the club in a medical statement, meaning he will not be able to help the team defend their lead in LaLiga and will miss the Clásico against Real Madrid. Upon hearing the news, his father, Mounir Nasraoui, prayed for him.

Nasraoui asks for blessings for his son

Lamine Yamal’s injury has not only hit Barça hard but also those closest to him. Especially his father, who reacted with a mix of anguish and faith in the face of the difficult time his son is going through.

On his Instagram account and before Yamal’s diagnosis was revealed, Nasraoui shared a message filled with emotion and faith:

“May God bless you, LY,” he wrote alongside an emoji of hands forming a heart and another red heart.

Along with these words, Mounir also shared three photos in which he is seen sitting on the floor, with his hands raised and then covering his face, with his back to the mural featuring both of them.

This isn’t the first time Yamal’s father has spoken out publicly about situations affecting the player, and although comments on the post are restricted, it garnered thousands of likes and and words of support for Lamine:

“The best will be back soon. We’re all with him; he’ll come back stronger for the World Cup,” “He’ll come back stronger. Visca Lamine!”, “He’ll be back very soon,” were some of the messages.

Through his official Instagram account, the 18-year-old player also expressed his frustration and sadness at not being able to join the team for the decisive stretch of the season, but he also emphasized his confidence in his teammates to achieve the ultimate goal: a new title. He also took the opportunity to thank the fans for their support and assured them he would remain by his teammates’ side, cheering them on as just another fan.

“This isn’t the end; it’s just a break. I’ll come back stronger, more eager than ever, and next season will be better. Thanks for the messages and Visca el Barça,” he wrote.

As a result, and without Lamine available, Barça will have to face the next six matches without their star player, including the Clásico against Real Madrid, scheduled for May 10 at the Spotify Camp Nou.

Fortunately, the young player should be fit to compete in the 2026 FIFA World Cup with Spain. This means Luis de la Fuente could include him on his roster.

Spain has been drawn into Group H alongside Uruguay, Saudi Arabia, and Cape Verde. On June 15, they will play their opening match against Cape Verde at 12:00 PM ET at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. At the same venue but on the 21st, they will face Saudi Arabia at 12:00 PM ET. Finally, on the 26th, they will play Uruguay at 8:00 PM ET at Akron Stadium in Guadalajara, Mexico.
