Toronto FC’s goalkeeper rescued his team with a headed goal in stoppage time in a midweek MLS matchday marked by a flurry of goals, including those from Rodrigo De Paul and Luis Suarez for Inter Miami and Evander, the Brazilian with the most goals in the history of the American league, for Cincinnati.

It was an unforgettable night for Toronto FC goalkeeper Luka Gavran, who became his team’s hero with his 96th-minute header that tied the game at 3-3 with the Philadelphia Union.

Toronto received the 3-2 in the 89th minute from Nathan Harriel, but in the sixth minute of added time, already past the five minutes given by the referee, Gavran accompanied the Canadians’ last play and took advantage of a cross from Spaniard Alonso Coello to rescue a point in the most unexpected way.

Toronto extended its unbeaten streak to seven MLS games and is in playoff position in the Eastern Conference

Goal festival at Yankee Stadium in New York

There were no goalkeeper goals at New York’s Yankee Stadium, but there was another thrilling finish. Cincinnati salvaged a 4-4 draw with two goals in added time from Andrei Chirila and Brazilian Evander.

A brace from Argentina’s Nicolas Fernandez Mercau and a goal from Agustin Ojeda gave New York City a 3-1 lead after 53 minutes, and Taller Magno handed the hosts a 4-2 double lead in the 79th minute.

When the game seemed to be over, Cincinnati pulled off a surprise with Evander, who became the top Brazilian scorer in MLS history with 44 goals.

New York City FC’s neighbors, the New York Red Bulls, drew by the same scoreline at home to DC United as Israel’s Tai Baribo scored a hat-trick.

The Red Bulls took the lead three times, including a brace from Mexican Jorge Ruvalcaba, but were unable to take all three points.

Orlando’s poker

Five more goals came in Orlando, where Orlando City beat Charlotte 4-1 to the Argentine rhythm of Martin Ojeda and Ignacio Gomez.

Ojeda scored twice after an initial goal from 19-year-old Brazilian Luis Otavio. Gomez, born in 2006, put the icing on the cake with the final 4-1 in the 87th minute to give Orlando all three points for the first time since March 14.

It was the second victory of the season for the Florida team, which is fighting for a place in the postseason in the East.

De Paul and Suarez, great goals and 3 points

Rodrigo De Paul and Luis Suarez scored two goals in two minutes, in the 82nd and 83rd minutes, to impose Inter Miami’s law in the 2-0 victory over Real Salt Lake.

Inter Miami suffered in the visit to cold Salt Lake City, but solved a complicated game thanks to the spark of its champions.

De Paul broke the deadlock in the 82nd minute with a wonderful curling right-footed shot from 20 yards and, seconds later, Suarez, who started as a substitute, made it 2-0 with a great left-footed volley after a one-two with Mexican German Berterame.

The Argentine celebrated his second goal of the season in eight games, as did Suarez, who took advantage of his minutes in a campaign in which he lost his starting place.

Uruguayan Luis Suarez has 33 goals and 21 assists in his MLS career.
