At the moment, with Mike Tomlin leaving the Pittsburgh Steelers, there are 9 teams looking for a Head Coach for next season, and there could still be more, such as Aaron Glenn, who doesn’t have a secure position with the New York Jets after a terrible season. With all this, Kevin Stefanski and John Harbaugh are the most coveted available coaches in the NFL.
Both were fired: Kevin Stefanski by the Cleveland Browns and John Harbaugh by the Baltimore Ravens. In their own way, both were successful with their respective teams, which is why they are highly desired by teams in need of a Head Coach for 2026.
John Harbaugh spent 18 seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, won 180 games, built a winning culture, and captured a Super Bowl in 2012. Meanwhile, Kevin Stefanski joined the Cleveland Browns in 2020 and led them to the playoffs a couple of times, in addition to being named Head Coach of the Year in both 2020 and 2023.
Kevin Stefanski as an option for the Miami Dolphins
When it seemed that Mike McDaniel would stay another season with the Miami Dolphins, the Head Coach was dismissed last week, and the team is looking to fill the vacancy. The favorite is John Harbaugh, but now Kevin Stefanski has entered the race for the position.
NFL insider Tom Pelissero revealed that Kevin Stefanski interviewed with the Miami Dolphins for the Head Coach role. The former Cleveland Browns coach has already been interviewed by the Tennessee Titans, New York Giants, Atlanta Falcons, and Baltimore Ravens.
The biggest challenge Stefanski would face as the Miami Dolphins’ Head Coach is the quarterback position, which he was never able to fix with the Cleveland Browns and which ultimately led to his dismissal. With the Dolphins, the quarterback situation is also uncertain, after Tua Tagovailoa was benched despite having a massive contract remaining.
On the other hand, Stefanski would also have to think twice, since the Miami Dolphins are in the AFC East, where they will face Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills twice a year, as well as the New England Patriots twice, led by Drake Maye, who is a candidate for this season’s MVP.
