Jurgen Klopp hits back at rumors suggesting he is going to return to coaching with Real Madrid

Jürgen Klopp has firmly shut down fresh speculation linking him with a return to management at Real Madrid, dismissing the rumors in blunt terms while also hinting that his coaching career may not be over. Speaking during a media briefing, Klopp made it clear that the reports suggesting contact with the Spanish giants are entirely unfounded.

The former Liverpool boss rejected the idea outright, insisting that neither the club nor his representatives have had any communication regarding a potential move.

“All the news that’s coming out is complete nonsense,” he said. “They haven’t called me even once, not even a single time! They haven’t called my agent either!”

“Preferably, I’d take over at Atlético Madrid at the same time. Sorry Madrid, you’ll have to call first”.

The emphatic denial underscores just how far removed he currently is from a return to the dugout in a high-pressure environment like Madrid.

Klopp, who now serves as Head of Global Soccer within the Red Bull organization, currently has his contract running until 2029.

Despite his previous success in elite club management, he emphasized that he has not been approached by Real Madrid at any point.

The German coach has always been known for his candid personality, but his response to the rumors stood out even by his standards.

By making it clear that there has been no contact whatsoever, Klopp effectively ended the immediate wave of speculation linking him to the Santiago Bernabéu.

At present, Real Madrid remain one of the most high-profile clubs in world football, often associated with managerial rumors due to their global stature and constant pursuit of success.

However, Klopp‘s statements suggest that, at least for now, there is no foundation to those claims.

While Klopp has distanced himself from any current managerial opportunities, he did leave the door open for a possible return to coaching in the future.

He acknowledged that he is not yet ready to consider retirement, despite stepping away from day-to-day management.

Klopp doesn’t rule out a future return

Klopp, 58, explained that while he is enjoying his current executive role and the break from the weekly grind, he does not view himself as finished with coaching entirely.

“I’m certainly quite advanced for life at my age, but as a coach, I’m not completely and utterly finished. I haven’t reached retirement age yet,” he explained.

“Who knows what will happen in the coming years. But nothing is planned in that regard.”

His remarks suggest that a return to the touchline is still possible, even if there are no concrete plans at this stage.

For fans and clubs alike, that leaves the door slightly ajar for a future comeback, though likely not in the immediate term.

Klopp also addressed speculation about potentially taking over a national team role, particularly with discussions surrounding Germany‘s future leadership.

However, he firmly dismissed those ideas as well: “At the moment, I’m obviously not thinking about that at all, and fortunately there’s no reason to,” he added.

Taking the Red Bull project forward

Klopp‘s comments reinforced his commitment to his executive responsibilities and indicated that he is focused on his current role rather than pursuing new coaching challenges.

For now, Klopp appears content in his position within the Red Bull structure, where he continues to influence multiple clubs from a strategic standpoint.

While he remains open to a return to coaching in the future, there is no indication that such a move is imminent.

As speculation continues to swirl around top managerial positions across Europe, Klopp‘s firm denial serves as a reminder that not every big-name rumor has substance.

Still, given his history and stature in the game, it’s likely his name will continue to surface whenever elite jobs become available.
