JJ Reddick explains why he was late: Rory McIlroy is more relevant than LeBron James or Luka Doncic

Thousands of people were glued to the action at the Augusta National Golf Club, where Rory McIlroy secured back-to-back Masters titles. The dramatic finish even caused a delay for JJ Redick, who admitted reporters were stuck following the final round of The Masters.

JJ Redick’s confession about the Masters delay

Just after McIlroy’s putt dropped on the 18th, Redick walked into the press room laughing.

“I would’ve been here earlier, but Rory hit it in the trees. Had to make sure,” he joked, referencing the tense finish at the The Masters Tournament.

Rory McIlroy’s dramatic Masters victory

McIlroy conquered the Masters once again-this time with less emotion, but even more drama at Augusta. The Northern Irishman blew a six-shot lead, fell behind Cameron Young and Justin Rose, and faced intense pressure down the stretch.

He responded when it mattered most, delivering two clutch birdies at Amen Corner. A bold shot over Rae’s Creek on the 12th and a 350-yard drive on the 13th shifted momentum back in his favor.

McIlroy closed with a 71 (-1) and a total of 12-under par (276), edging Scottie Scheffler by one stroke.

McIlroy’s place in Masters history

The victory puts McIlroy in elite company: he becomes just the fourth player to win consecutive Masters, joining Tiger Woods, Nick Faldo, and Jack Nicklaus. He also captured his sixth major championship, matching legends like Faldo and Phil Mickelson.

“It wasn’t any easier than last year. Winning the Masters is incredibly difficult,” McIlroy admitted after surviving clutch moments on holes 16, 17, and a shaky tee shot on 18.

While rivals faltered-Rose losing momentum at Amen Corner and Young unable to capitalize-McIlroy delivered under pressure.

Now playing with newfound freedom at Augusta National, he’s already chasing the next milestone: no golfer has ever won three straight Masters.
