Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford are two of the biggest names in boxing today, and it seemed as if they were all set for a titanic clash in Las Vegas this September, a super-middleweight bout that prompted excitement and intrigue around the sporting world.

But with the news coming out that Alvarez – Crawford has been cancelled at what was seemingly the final hurdle, boxing fans might have to make do with following the latest moves of “The Problem Child“: a gleeful Jake Paul, dancing on the grave of this cancelled bout.

Paul sticks out his chest as huge fight collapses

Paul, still celebrating his victory over former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson in November, feels himself getting closer and closer to the apex of boxing popularity as Alvarez and Crawford’s negotiations to fight fell apart this week.

Taking to X/Twitter, Paul said his fight is now “whatever he wants it to be“, which speaks to his supreme confidence amidst 11 wins from his first 12 fights as a professional boxer.

Paul further proclaimed that he is the “A-Side” of every fight card of which he has been a part, and he stated rather boldly that this status is “not changing”. It has been rumored that Paul and Alvarez have a separate agreement to fight in May, which may have contributed to the Crawford fight’s surprise cancellation.

Still, fans have every reason to be upset after being “stripped” of the opportunity to witness Alvarez and Crawford, two generational talents, collide in Las Vegas. Crawford, a southpaw specialist, has won each and every one of his 41 fights, 31 of them by knockout; Alvarez is 62-2-2 in his career, and he has been Ring magazine’s super middleweight title holder for five years.
