On Saturday, May 3, the long-awaited fight between Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and William Scull in Saudi Arabia will take place, being the great debut of the Mexican fighter in Arab lands, precisely in Riyadh, the first of the four fights that were agreed with Turki Alalshikh.

Let’s remember that Scull is currently the champion of the International Boxing Federation (IBF), while the Mexican has the titles of the World Boxing Association (WBA), the World Boxing Council (WBC) and the World Boxing Organization (WBO), so the Mexican will seek to unify the titles at 168 pounds.

What is William Scull’s record?

Cuban William Scull, known as “El Indomable”, will undoubtedly be a tough opponent for Canelo, being one of the best in the super middleweight division, with his last fight against Vladimir Shishkin on October 24, 2024 for the vacant IBF title in that category.

In fact, Canelo Alvarez vacated the IBF title by initially refusing to face Scull, who was his mandatory challenger for the organization’s title, instead deciding to fight Edgar Berlanga and lose his distinction as undisputed champion.

The native of Matanzas, Cuba, has an undefeated record of 23 wins (9 by knockout) and 0 losses. His professional career has been on the rise, standing out in ranking fights where he has demonstrated technique,

resilience and strategic capacity

What is Canelo Alvarez’s record?

Canelo Alvarez comes into this fight with a professional record of 62 wins, two losses and two draws, including 39 wins by knockout

His last outing was on September 14, 2024, when he defeated American Edgar Berlanga by unanimous decision at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, retaining his four super middleweight belts (WBC, WBA, WBO and IBF).

Since his defeat to Dmitry Bivol in May 2022, the Mexican boxer regained rhythm and confidence with solid performances against the likes of John Ryder, Jermell Charlo and the aforementioned Berlanga
