Haaland has already surpassed Cristiano in the Premier League

Erling Haaland continues to rewrite the history of English football. In Manchester City’s victory over West Ham, the Norwegian striker scored two goals and provided an assist, enough to surpass the 103 goals that Cristiano Ronaldo scored during his time in the Premier League.

The City striker reached this mark in just 114 games, an abysmal difference when compared to the 236 games Ronaldo needed to reach that number during his time at Manchester United. Weeks ago, Haaland had already become the player who needed the fewest games to reach 100 goals in the English league, and now adds a new milestone to his impressive collection.

Cristiano Ronaldo threatened by two records at the end of the year

The end of the calendar year could bring more than one bitter pill for Cristiano Ronaldo. In a matter of hours, two of his most iconic records have been seriously compromised – and one of them has already been surpassed – by two of the biggest names in football today: Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.

While the Norwegian has already surpassed the Portuguese’s historic record in the Premier League, the Frenchman is on the verge of surpassing him in a Real Madrid shirt in the final matchday of 2025.

Mbappe, one goal away from breaking another CR7 record at Real Madrid

The threat does not end there. Tonight, at the Santiago Bernabeu, Kylian Mbappe has the chance to surpass another of Cristiano Ronaldo’s historic records: 59 goals in a calendar year with Real Madrid, a figure that the Portuguese set in 2013.

The French striker needs just one goal to equal the record and a brace to leave it definitively behind. The opponent will be Sevilla, in a context of pressure for the white team and with a Bernabeu expectant at the possibility of witnessing a new chapter in the history of the club.

Context and inevitable comparisons

It is worth remembering that Cristiano Ronaldo reached many of his records initially starting as a winger, especially during his early years in England, before transforming into the ruthless goalscorer who marked an era. Even so, Haaland and Mbappe’s numbers are impossible to ignore.

The Norwegian is also having an exceptional season: 19 goals in 17 Premier League games, with decisive goals, as 10 of them opened the scoring. In the race for the Golden Boot, Haaland has taken the lead over Harry Kane, while Mbappe is also very close in the fight.

The legacy continues, but the records fall

Cristiano Ronaldo remains an absolute reference in modern football, but the end of 2025 leaves a clear picture: his records are no longer untouchable. The new generation is not only competing with his legacy, but is beginning to surpass it, even on symbolic dates and in historic settings.

The question is no longer whether more CR7 records will fall, but when and who will be next to achieve it.
