Giancarlo Stanton is injured: it could be serious and the Yankees are trembling

The start of preseason looks complicated for outfielder Giancarlo Stanton, who reported injured to the New York YankeesSpring Training camp after suffering tendinitis in both elbows, which will keep him out of some games.

The Yankees will not have him for Friday’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays and it is likely that his absence will extend until after the Bronx Bombers’Opening Day against the Milwaukee Brewers on March 27, which for MLB expert Evan Roberts, is a blow that exposes the lack of depth in the New York lineup.

“If considerable time is lost, who will replace him? Literally, look at the Yankees’ roster, look at their outfield in general, and I tell you they don’t have the players who can replace him,” Roberts said of manager Aaron Boone’s challenge, as he has Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger and Jasson Dominguez in the outfield, as Trent Grisham and Everson Pereira are also injured.

Giancarlo Stanton accepts that he is behind schedule for Opening Day

Giancarlo Stanton is unsure if he will be ready for the first game of the season due to painful tendinitis in both elbows, and has not taken a single swing in the last three or four weeks.

“The pain was very intense overall. Tennis elbow or whatever they call it, it’s tears in the tendon, so it’s not about when it felt good, when it felt bad. There’s always the level of pain and you have to deal with that. So, yes, it’s just the wisest time to give it time now,” Stanton said before the Yankees‘ first full workout, the five-time All-Star explained that he played in pain for much of last season

The 35-year-old would not speculate on whether it is realistic for him to play in the opener against Milwaukee

“I’m definitely behind, but I want to say it’s just a matter of being ready to play at full speed today rather than in a little while. So we’ve got five or six weeks here. It’ll be good prep from there,” Stanton said, hoping that the treatment, which includes forearm exercises, tissue work and other specific exercises, will help him be ready.
