George Pickens sent a harsh message to his former head coach Mike Tomlin during the Cowboys’ win over the Eagles

There is no doubt that since the Dallas Cowboys drafted CeeDee Lamb in 2020, they found in him a true star of this league. The former Oklahoma Sooners player made an immediate impact; he became one of the best players in the NFL and, before the 2024 season, signed a new 4-year, $136 million deal with Jerry Jones’ team.

However, in the last two years, Lamb has been affected by injuries, although he remains a top-tier receiver. That’s why, heading into the last Draft, one of the Cowboys’ biggest needs was finding a WR2. Many analysts believed they would select a receiver, but that didn’t happen, and-as expected-fans were upset.

After a couple weeks of frustration, Jerry Jones had something planned: the Dallas Cowboys made a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers to acquire George Pickens, who is undoubtedly a spectacular receiver. However, his lack of discipline ended up costing him his place with the Steelers, and of course, his relationship with Mike Tomlin completely fell apart.

George Pickens is happier than ever

There was never a doubt about George Pickens’ talent. There was plenty of risk because of his discipline issues, but given his skill, taking a chance on him made sense-and the Cowboys absolutely won this trade. Pickens has become a monster and has already surpassed 1,000 receiving yards this season.

George Pickens is coming off a 146-yard, 1-touchdown performance against the Philadelphia Eagles, and last week on MNF he also surpassed 100 yards. The Cowboys receiver clearly looks happy: “The smile I saw on his face during Monday Night Football says it all. [George Pickens] is happy to be where he is, and he’s producing,” said Ryan Clark on ESPN.

So far, in terms of numbers, George Pickens is the best receiver on the Dallas Cowboys: he has 67 receptions for 1,054 yards and 8 touchdowns. He has undoubtedly become Dak Prescott’s most trusted target, even ahead of CeeDee Lamb, who-despite making a great catch against the Eagles-also dropped a ball in the end zone.

The Dallas Cowboys had a great game against the Eagles; they came from behind and beat them to stay alive in the playoff race. Although the road is still long, a victory like this could set the team up for a strong finish to the season. The best part is that the Cowboys’ defense has been improving little by little.
