George Pickens drives Chiefs champion crazy as he rages at Mahomes, Travis Kelce and company

In the Thanksgiving Day game, everything went wrong for the Chiefs. They simply could not figure out the offense led by Dak Prescott. Along with the quarterback, CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens were a headache for Kansas City. This was noticed by a former player of the Missouri franchise.

The Chiefs took the field focused on stopping Pickens, who had shredded the Philadelphia Eagles for 146 yards and a touchdown. Although he did not do as much damage, he did hurt them; Kansas City suffered six receptions for 88 yards that weighed in for the Dallas Cowboys’ 31-28 victory.

So notorious was his involvement that the Cowboys put the game away with a 13-yard pass to Pickens. Chiefs cornerback Jaylen Watson couldn’t contain him. He never found a way to stop him in the fourth quarter

Gehrig Dieter, former NFL wide receiver who played for the Chiefs between 2017 and 2021, was unhappy with Steve Spagnuolo’s defense against Pickens. In his opinion and experience, he believes they should have forced him to play above the deep. In his view, he was given a lot of freedom.

Pickens only runs slants, man. Let him beat you over the top! Take away the damn slant

Dieter spent five years with the franchise and was part of the team that won the Super Bowl in 2020. Although he is not remembered as a key part of those Chiefs, the former player knows what he is talking about and therefore considers himself in a position to criticize the strategy to contain Pickens.

He shared his outrage with his former team, Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and company on social media. In contrast, he surrenders to the receiver

Pickens and a favorable economic path

The Dallas player will become a free agent at the end of the season. So far, it is believed that he will remain with the team for the next campaign. This would depend on the Cowboys’ fate at the end of 2025. If they fail to make the playoffs, the organization would let him go.

While the best option for Pickens would be to reach unrestricted free agency, the most likely option, according to sources, is that the Cowboys will place the franchise tag on him at an estimated price of more than $28 million for one season. Dallas would then attempt to negotiate a long-term deal with Pickens

If Pickens manages to negotiate an extension with the Cowboys, he could receive an average salary of $30 million. That’s why he also has a particular interest in playing at the highest level. The team’s resurgence over the past three weeks is fueled by motivations like Pickens’, who is looking to extend his stay in Dallas.
