Freddie Freeman questions Dodgers’ goals after pressure mounts

Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman and last year’s World Series Most Valuable Player, Freddie Freeman, spoke about the California team’s chances of repeating its 2024 successes.

The Dodgers won the MLB title after a spectacular Fall Classic against the New York Yankees and took the series in just five games.

With a star-studded roster such as Freeman, Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts, this year the team was joined by talents such as pitcher Roki Sasaki, so the Angels are the heavy favorites to repeat the championship, which would be the first back-to-back championship in the franchise’s history.

So far, the Dodgers have not disappointed, and are co-leaders of the National League West Division with a 16-7 record, tied at the top with the San Diego Padres.

Freddie Freeman and the high expectations of the Dodgers

In a recent interview on JM Baseball with Chris Rose, Freddie Freeman was candid about the team’s expectations for 2025 and the fact that they are being marked as favorites to win it all in Major League Baseball.

“I think we love to hear that because it means we have a good team,” Freeman said. “We try to win the World Series every year. Realistically, we probably can’t do it, but we’ll do our best, because you never know what’s going to happen.”

“Two years ago, Mookie didn’t get any hits, and I didn’t get any hits in four games. You never know what’s going to happen in baseball and it’s very unpredictable,” he added.

The Angels’ first baseman recalled that history could have been very different, when the Dodgers were one game away from being eliminated in the Division Series, when the Padres went up 2-1 in a best-of-five series.

“Last year we were one game away from being eliminated in the Division Series, for us it’s World Series or nothing, and we’re glad it’s that way. In the end, all that means is that the front office is doing a good job and the owners put together a great team,” Freeman concluded.
