What a way to start training for a new season for the Mets. Frankie Montas was injured and the time he will be out of action does not look good at all. It’s a big blow to get this project underway as they look to bounce back and make a splash in MLB.

Clearly, the first one that comes to mind is the leader of this whole project, Juan Soto. The ‘Big Apple’ put $715 million for 15 years on the table for the Dominican. However, there are other players who can fulfill their role in this preparation for the new campaign.

However, Frankie signed a two-year, $34 million deal with the Mets. He missed much of 2023 due to shoulder surgery, but in his return he had a 4.84 ERA and 148 strikeouts in 30 games between Cincinnati and Milwaukee. He has a lot of precedence and will surely be missed for the time he will be out

And it is an opportunity that does not come around again, Montas is looking to once again be a dominant figure in the rotation of a team with playoff aspirations, taking advantage of his experience and potential to be a key pitcher and silence his critics

Carlos Mendoza, manager of the Mets, confirmed in a press conference that Frankie Montas suffered a back injury that will not allow him to pitch for the next six to eight weeks. He will practically be out of his team’s first training camp

“It’s a high-grade injury and Frankie will travel to New York for an injection to help him get better. That’s what we have,” said Carlos at the press conference

If all goes well, it seems that there will be no problems for Frankie to resume action soon, it will be better that in the Mets he finds who could raise his hand in a position that needs ‘punch’
