Francisco Lindor’s secret to being on fire at the start of the season with the Mets

The New York Mets are the best team in Major League Baseball with a record of 18-7 and a seven-game winning streak after sweeping the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday following a dramatic game that was decided in extra innings.

The success of the Mets is due to a team effort in which responsibility is shared throughout the lineup, led by Francisco Lindor, who in 25 games has a .309 average in 97 at-bats, with five home runs and 14 runs batted in.

According to information from Desha Tossa of Fox Sports MLB, the secret to Francisco Lindor’s hot season is due to some strong words from former player Eric Chavez when he joined as hitting coach.

“We were talking about my season, and he said that at one point in the year, it was like I didn’t show up, like I wasn’t really there,” Lindor revealed of a chat he had with Chavez last October. “And that hit me hard.”

The words that changed Francisco Lindor’s attitude

In his 17-year career, Eric Chavez won six Gold Gloves and a Silver Slugger, so he has the experience to motivate a star like Lindor, even before knowing that he would have Juan Soto as a teammate, to form a respectable lineup along with Pete Alonso and Brandon Nimmo.

Lindor’s comments were liked by the Puerto Rican shortstop and he is a key piece in placing the Mets as contenders to reach the World Series, for now with the arguments to compete with the Dodgers and with the Padres.

“I didn’t take it that badly. I took it as something like, ‘It’s true, you know? When you go 30-0, it’s like you’re not there. If you go to the box and waste five at-bats, that’s a day you didn’t show up. So I took it very seriously,” Lindor said.
