Expert doesn’t think Bo Bichette is worth $300 million and bets on a leadoff hitter for the Yankees

In the last few hours, there has been an interesting twist with the Yankees and their possible signings. Until yesterday, everything revolved around three names: Cody Bellinger, Bo Bichette and Kyle Tucker. Suddenly, when no one expected it, an expert put on the table an unexpected candidate at bat, Nico Hoerner of the Cubs. While the franchise is concentrating its efforts on Bellinger, whom it is trying to convince with a final five-year offer, Sal Licata commented that the team needs a leadoff hitter who usually gets on base and makes the 1-2 with Aaron Judge. For the MLB insider, that should be a priority in New York.

Maybe, for once, the Yankees can get a leadoff hitter. I mean, you’d think you’d want someone who gets on base consistently in front of Aaron Judge, maybe someone who can make good contact with the bat

Because Bellinger has made the negotiation for his services too long and tiring, the Yankees would look at other alternatives with Bo Bichette and Kyle Tucker. For Licata, it is a mistake to go for the Blue Jays hitter because he considers that he demands more money than he is worth and because the urgency is to have someone who occupies the turn before Judge at bat. For him, MLB informant Nico Hoerner is the man the Yankees should go for.

I’m not thinking about Bo Bichette. I mean, the idea that he wants $300 million or whatever he thinks he’s going to get, I don’t think he’s worth it. Nico Hoerner is the player whose name keeps coming up. Steven Kwan, I wanted the Yankees to make a trade for him last year

He also suggested Steven Kwan of the Guardians, but his strong card is Nico Hoerner. The Chicago second baseman, he said, fits the profile to get on base and to partner with Aaron Judge in the 1-2 in the batting order.

Bo Bichette and Kyle Tucker too expensive for Yankees

In New York, they have their minds set on Cody Bellinger. Their latest offer is $160 million for five years. They do not intend to pay more or offer a longer-term contract. For this reason, they would rule out the possibility of shelling out $300 million for Bichette or $400 million for Tucker.
