Francisco Lindor sends a message to reduce the responsibility of Juan Soto and Pete Alonso

New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor has assumed a leadership role with the goal of reducing the media burden caused by the addition of Juan Soto in combination with the high expectations of reaching the World Series.

The Mets player spoke about the importance of having a complete lineup to achieve success, when this means going over the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are also favorites to reach the Fall Classic.

When a team’s management puts together a complete lineup, the responsibilities are not concentrated on one person and for Francisco Lindor there are several big names.

“It’s not just me, it’s not Soto or Pete. You’ve got Nimmo, you’ve got Vientos, you’ve got Alvie, you’ve got Tyrone, Siri, you’ve got Winker. You’ve got a lot of players who are going to make the difference in crucial games.”

During the last four MLB seasons with the New York Mets, Francisco Lindor has been one of the team’s leaders both on and off the field. He knows perfectly well how the media pressure is focused and in recent days he has made an effort to disperse the attention that has been focused on Juan Soto so that it does not affect his performance at the start of the season.

“We have to go out on the pitch and do it for ourselves. It doesn’t matter how good the team looks on paper, we have to win and repeat the formula or do better.”

Francisco Lindor’s journey in Major League Baseball

Francisco Lindor began his Major League Baseball career with the Cleveland Indians in 2015 and soon established himself as one of the best players in the league. He was traded to the New York Mets in 2021 and has been one of the key players.

Although the New York Mets got off to a slow start last season, Francisco Lindor dragged the team to the playoffs with some inspiring performances despite falling short of the World Series.

While they do not yet have a designated captain, Francisco Lindor was asked if he sees himself being the captain in the near future, to which he replied that it’s not up to him to decide. If it happens, it would be fantastic. It would be an honor. It would be a privilege.
