Dwight Howard’s personal life is facing turbulence as his wife, Amy Luciani, reportedly files for divorce while the couple continues to live under the same roof. Allegations surrounding substance use and family issues have brought public scrutiny.
Luciani, who is also known online as Amber Rose Howard, officially filed for divorce from Dwight Howard on July 1, 2025, six months after their January wedding, citing that their marriage was irretrievably broken and seeking a fair split of their assets.
In her filings and statements to the media, Luciani made it clear that she saw no path to reconciliation, noting that the union could not continue, and asked the court to handle matters such as alimony and division of property.
Luciani claims the former NBA star struggles with a cocaine addiction, and she has said the tension at home has grown to the point where Child Protective Services visited multiple times, temporarily removing their daughter from the household.
In tearful Instagram videos, Luciani held up what she said was a bag of white powder to illustrate her concerns, stating, “This is what I’m f**king losing my marriage to.”
She described the situation as escalating to a “dangerous spot, whilst another serious claim is that Howard coached their 12 year old son to lie to police and CPS about his behaviour, which Luciani says reflected the strain on the family and the stress caused by Howard’s alleged substance use.
Despite filing for divorce, Luciani and Howard reportedly continue to reside together temporarily as legal proceedings begin.
“Even after I tried to divorce him the first time, everybody around me [was] saying ‘You can’t leave your husband this soon,'” Luciani said, revealing people around her initially encouraged her to stay in the marriage but that the situation had become untenable.
Howard yet to respond publicly to Luciani’s allegations
Howard has not publicly responded to these allegations, leaving uncertainty about the legal implications. Luciani’s claims are separate from prior matters, including a dismissed lawsuit alleging sexual assault in which Howard admitted to consensual activity but denied wrongdoing.
The ongoing divorce filing, paired with claims of substance issues and CPS involvement, paints a chaotic picture for the family.
Insiders speaking to TMZ note the challenges of managing a home while pursuing separation, especially with young children and public attention intensifying.
Howard’s career achievements, including multiple NBA All-Star appearances and a reputation as one of the league’s dominant centers, are now contrasted with serious personal accusations. The situation highlights how off-court issues can affect public perception of high-profile athletes.
Luciani’s videos have drawn widespread attention online, fueling discussions about the personal struggles behind celebrity lives, parental responsibilities, and the pressures that accompany living in the public eye, particularly amid separation and legal disputes.
At this stage, there is no independent verification of the substance allegations or the CPS claims, and Howard’s silence leaves questions about how the case will progress. Courts and authorities have yet to confirm any specific interventions or findings.
