Paris Saint-Germain announced the signing of Spanish midfielder Dro Fernández on a long-term deal that will keep him in the French capital through 2030, continuing the club’s push to invest in young, high-upside talent.

The 18-year-old will wear the No. 27 shirt as he begins the next stage of his development in Ligue 1.Born Pedro Fernández Sarmiento in Nigrán, Spain, on Jan. 12, 2008, Fernández began playing football at just four years old with local side ED Val Miñor Nigrán.

His early promise led him to FC Barcelona in 2022, where he spent three seasons progressing through the club’s youth ranks and establishing himself as a technically gifted, versatile midfielder known for his vision and ability to operate between the lines.

Dro played a key role with youth FC Barcelona

Fernández‘s breakout year came during the 2024-25 season, when he was promoted to Barcelona’s U19 team despite being only 16. He played a key role in the club’s UEFA Youth League title run, making seven appearances and scoring twice, including a goal in a 4-2 victory over BSC Young Boys.

That season also saw him contribute to Barcelona‘s domestic double in the División de Honor Juvenil and Copa del Rey Juvenil. His rapid rise continued during Barcelona‘s summer tour of Japan and South Korea, where Fernández impressed against senior competition and scored his first goal for the first team in a friendly against Vissel Kobe on July 27, 2025.

He later made his competitive professional debut in a 2-1 La Liga win over Real Sociedad in September and went on to record five official appearances for the club. In addition to four league matches, he featured once in the UEFA Champions League, registering his first professional assist in a 6-1 win over Olympiacos on Oct. 21, 2025.

A team that’s building around emerging talent

On the international stage, Fernández has been a regular presence across Spain‘s youth national teams. He scored four goals in nine matches for the U17 side and delivered a standout moment during the 2025 UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualifying campaign, netting the winning goal against Norway.

Since moving up to the U18s, he has earned three caps, bringing his total to 24 youth international appearances across the U15, U16, U17 and U18 levels. With his move to PSG now complete, Fernández joins a club intent on building around emerging talent, and his arrival adds another promising piece to Paris Saint-Germain‘s long-term sporting project.
