Dodgers evaluate possible trade: Bobby Miller could be in the spotlight heading into 2026

The Los Angeles Dodgers continue to set the pace in Major League Baseball. After building one of the most impressive rotations in recent MLB history, the Los Angeles franchise now faces a new challenge: an excess of young arms.

Rumors are beginning to circulate that the pitcher Bobby Miller could be on the way out, as he has a projected salary of $750,000 for the 2026 season.

Dodgers and a historic rotation that creates difficult decisions

The Los Angeles organization put together a dream rotation. The arrival of two-time Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell and Japanese phenom Roki Sasaki joined a group already led by Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow. This core was key for the Dodgers to establish themselves as a constant powerhouse and aspire to back-to-back World Series titles.

However, such talent also creates an overcrowding on the roster. With multiple options to start games and a group of young pitchers looking for opportunities, management will have to make strategic decisions for the immediate future.

Bobby Miller, from stardom to uncertainty

According to MLB insider Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, the Dodgers are listening to offers for Bobby Miller, who was once considered one of the organization’s top pitching prospects.

“The Dodgers must decide what to do with Miller… That has included listening to trade talks about their former top pitching prospect.“, Ardaya wrote.

Miller, a 2020 first-round Draft pick, made his MLB debut just two years later with an impactful season, going 11-4 in 22 starts. However, his performance dropped considerably in the following campaigns, leading to his demotion to the minor leagues and subsequently his transition to the bullpen.

At 26 years old, Bobby Miller still has room for development, but his control issues have raised red flags. By 2026, the pitcher is assured of a salary of $750,000, in what will be his penultimate year before being eligible for arbitration.

From a financial standpoint, the contract is not a burden, but the Dodgers are evaluating whether his sporting value fits into a roster that is aiming for immediate excellence. A trade could benefit both parties.

While the future of Miller is being analyzed, the Los Angeles bullpen also generates optimism. Ardaya believes that this unit, which was inconsistent in 2025, will once again be dominant thanks to the arrival of Edwin Diaz.

Diaz signed a three-year, $69 million contract to take over the closer’s role. Tanner Scott and Blake Treinen, who did not quite live up to expectations last year, will move into setup roles, a role that could enhance their performance.
