Cody Bellinger hit a HR for the third year in a row in 4/20

The recurrence of Cody Bellinger hitting a home run on the 20th of April for the third consecutive year is indeed a striking coincidence. In the world of sports, where randomness often plays a significant role, such patterns can feel almost inexplicable.

For a player to achieve the same specific offensive feat on the exact same date across multiple seasons adds an element of mystique and wonder, prompting fans and analysts alike to marvel at the improbable alignment of events. While statistically it might simply be a matter of chance, these unusual occurrences generate different stories around.

That two-RBI home run Cody Bellinger hit off Ryan Pepiot, a former teammate during Pepiot’s time in Triple-A with the Dodgers, was indeed his second of the current season. What makes it particularly noteworthy is that this long ball on April 20th marks his third consecutive year hitting a home run on this specific date. This unusual pattern against a former teammate adds another layer of intrigue to the already statistically improbable coincidence of his recurring April 20th home runs.

The fact that Cody Bellinger’s home run on April 20th of last year traveled a distance of 420 feet adds an entirely new dimension to this recurring coincidence. Given the well-known association of the number “420” with marijuana culture, this extra layer of detail makes the situation even more bizarre and statistically improbable.

Major League Baseball removed marijuana from its list of prohibited substances for players on the 40-man roster and other club personnel as part of their updated drug policy implemented before the 2020 season. This change meant that players are no longer subject to testing for plant-derived cannabinoids like THC and CBD.

Cody Bellinger addressed the rumors and memes about him being high during games. In an interview from October 2020, when directly asked if people thought he was high all the time, Bellinger humorously responded, “I am not high during the games, OK?” He went on to joke about looking “faded” even as a child in the Little League World Series.
