Cody Bellinger could be affected by Kyle Tucker as he waits for a big move from the Yankees

The New York Yankees have not had one of the best offseasons without making the arrival of a star reinforcement to the team possible, and they are still awaiting what Cody Bellinger might decide, as he continues to be one of the organization’s biggest targets.

It is, without a doubt, the most important story of this MLB offseason: the expectation of where both Bellinger and Kyle Tucker will end up, knowing that the contract of the latter could define that of the former.

The Yankees have already made a move for Bellinger, though that doesn’t mean it’s the definitive one, as he may not be satisfied with the offer. This was the first step, although both sides remain far apart.

The player is taking a “wait and see” stance, knowing that Tucker’s negotiations have slowed things down, and this could be a scenario that works against Bellinger.

Updates on Cody Bellinger and Kyle Tucker

According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, Kyle Tucker is the number one free agent on the market. A player who has been linked to the Toronto Blue Jays, though everything seems to indicate they don’t have the money the baseball star is seeking.

According to reports, the 2022 World Series champion is looking for a contract in the $300 to $400 million range, and it’s unrealistic for Bellinger to ask for a similar figure-this is the main reason why the Yankees must choose between one or the other.

“A reunion between the Yankees and Bellinger has felt inevitable all offseason, though it’s possible that Bellinger will wait for Tucker to sign before making his own deal, giving him further leverage,” Feinsand wrote. “Some believe Tucker may be one of the few left-handed hitters whose swing is as tailor-made for the Bronx as Bellinger”s was during his first season in pinstripes, though Bellinger’s price tag figures to be lower and he’s already proven he can handle the New York pressure-cooker.”

Feinsand believes only about five teams could offer Kyle Tucker the contract he’s seeking. If none do, he would have to accept a significant pay cut to secure a spot on a MLB team next season. There is no scenario in which Cody Bellinger and Kyle Tucker remain free agents for much longer, but Tucker’s difficulty in landing a long-term deal has put Bellinger in a complicated position.
