Coco Gauff takes a break from tennis with her boyfriend Jalen Sera as their relationship continues to progress

Coco Gauff is taking a break from tennis this offseason to spend quality time with her boyfriend, Jalen Sera, as the 21-year-old tennis star wrapped up her 2025 season following the WTA Finals.

She reached the third group stage in that event and faced Aryna Sabalenka for a place in the semifinals, but the world number one defeated her in straight sets, 7-6(5), 6-2, to close out the young American’s year.

Currently, she is enjoying her downtime in Los Angeles with Sera as the couple shared glimpses of their activities on social media, including photos of outfits, meals, and moments together with friends in California.

Sera posted a carousel of images on Instagram with the caption: “Good insideeee.” The pictures included snapshots of Gauff, food they shared, and various scenes from their time in Los Angeles, capturing the casual, playful nature of their outing.

The pair engaged in lighthearted banter in the comments section. Gauff wrote, “Undefeated!” to which Sera responded, “NEVER LOST!” Their interaction highlighted the relaxed, affectionate dynamic between the two as they enjoy time off the court.

Gauff also shared a mirror selfie on her Instagram story during the outing, showcasing a cropped top, mini-skirt, and leather jacket paired with high-knee boots. Shortly after, Sera posted content showing them visiting a local art exhibit together as the offseason break provides Gauff an opportunity to focus on her personal life and recover before preparing for the 2026 campaign.

Chris Eubanks’ Coco Gauff call falls well short

The American’s off-season break allows her to recharge both physically and mentally after a demanding year, as her victory at the French Open confirmed her status among the world’s elite, despite falling short of some expectations.

Chris Eubanks, a former Wimbledon finalist, had predicted Gauff would reach the summit of the WTA rankings in 2025, but she ended the season as world number three, so this did not align fully with Eubanks‘ forecast.

“We’ve seen so much greatness from her at such a young age,” Eubanks had told the Tennis Channel. “I think it’s safe to say that she will become world number one.

“I think although it’s a big points deficit, I think she can do it next year.”

Although Eubanks‘ prediction did not fully materialize this year, Gauff remains highly competitive but suffered shock disappointments at Wimbledon and the US Open, where she was eliminated in the first and fourth rounds respectively.

Sabalenka amassed 10,870 points after strong performances by winning the US Open, reaching the finals of the French Open and Australian Open, and making the Wimbledon semifinals.

Poland’s Iga Swiatek sits in second. Gauff is third with 6,763 points, narrowly ahead of the USA’s Amanda Anisimova at 6,287.
