After Chris Eubank Jr. won by decision over Conor Benn in the controversial fight at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, the Briton is back on the radar as a possible candidate to face Canelo Alvarez in 2026.

Eubank Jr. took the unbeaten record from Benn in a fight steeped in British boxing history, more than 30 years after their fathers shared the ring in two memorable bouts.

In addition to raising their hand for their respective family, there was also a possible prize for the winner, as the president of the WBC, Mauricio Sulaiman, had promised that the winner could have a chance against Canelo.

The internationalization of Mexican boxer Saul “Canelo” Alvarez beyond the United States could have a stop in the United Kingdom, according to trainer Joe Gallagher on his X account.

“I would like to see Chris Eubank Jr. move back up to 168 pounds and get his big payday against Canelo at Wembley or Spurs in September,” Gallagher posted on his X account.

Turki Alalshikh endorses Canelo to fight Eubank Jr.

Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn not only faced each other to settle old scores, according to an interview withTurki Alalshikh for Sky Sports, it was also worth it to be considered as candidates for a fight against Canelo, who after his two fights with Riyadh Season in 2025, still has a contract for two more, to take place in 2026.

“Whoever the winner is, we are working to fight Canelo in the future. If Eubank wins, he will have the opportunity to fight Canelo in early 2026. Yes, we have rematch options in our contract. Why not? But now we are focusing on the first fight. Let’s see what happens and I think it will be something incredible,” said Turki Alalshikh to Sky Sports.

Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn have a rematch clause in their contract, but it could be extended to allow the fight with Canelo to take place.
