Cardi B remains silent after news that the Patriots released Stefon Diggs

Cardi B remains silent after news broke that the New England Patriots are releasing Stefon Diggs, and the absence of any reaction has quickly drawn attention as the rapper has not commented publicly, despite her relationship with the veteran receiver. The Patriots informed Stefon Diggs on March 4 that they intend to let him go.

It brings an end to his short time with the team as the decision arrives months after he helped the franchise reach the Super Bowl.

New England might not have reached the Super Bowl without Diggs, as the veteran wide receiver played an important role throughout the season.

The experienced wide receiver helped stabilize the offense before they came up short against the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX.

And whilst Stefon Diggs did not deliver a standout performance in the championship game, he had previously shown chemistry with the team’s emerging quarterback, Drake Maye.

At the same time, the attention surrounding the professional athlete extended well beyond football, because his relationship with global music star Cardi B became a major storyline throughout the year.

Cardi B and Stefon Diggs’ fiery relationship

The pair publicly confirmed their relationship in early 2025, and during the Patriots‘ NFL Playoffs run the globally-known music star and genius behind the hit ‘WAP’ openly showed support for the team across her social media accounts.

At that point, the couple appeared to be doing well together, and Diggs even hinted he might propose to her after the Super Bowl, not too long after she became the mother of his child.

However, he emphasized that his main focus remained on winning the last game of the season. But soon before the Super Bowl, however, speculation about the relationship began to grow.

Observers noticed that Diggs and Cardi B had unfollowed each other on Instagram. While she also attended the game itself, she did not publicly show support for the receiver.

Now her lack of visible response to the news that he will need to find a new home in the NFL further raises eyebrows.

Cardi B is not known for staying quiet when she feels strongly about a subject, as evidenced by her feud with her ex-partner, Offset.

What comes next for Diggs as Patriots part ways?

The Patriots‘ decision to move on from Diggs came less than a year after signing him, when the team originally brought him in on a three-year contract last March.

That deal was worth $69 million, although its structure created a key checkpoint before the 2026 season, giving New England the flexibility to reassess the agreement.

His base salary was scheduled to rise sharply, increasing from $2.9 million in 2025 to $20.6 million in 2026, while his salary cap number would also climb significantly.

Because of those increases, the Patriots ultimately decided the timing made sense to move on, and he will become a free agent once his release is finalized.

“THANK YOU for a hell of a year. We family forever @patriots,” Stefon Diggs wrote on social media as his release comes after a productive regular season, as Stefon Diggs finished with a team-high 85 receptions along with 1,013 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

His production declined during the playoffs, though, as he recorded 14 receptions for 110 yards and one touchdown across the postseason.

Away from the field, Diggs is also facing legal trouble tied to an alleged dispute with his personal chef, which led to felony strangulation and other criminal charges.

Diggs denies the allegations and pleaded not guilty. He is due back in court for a pretrial hearing on April 1, which follows his February 13 arraignment.

The hearing will take place at the Dedham District Court in Massachusetts.
