Mexican boxer Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez has had a great career and is considered one of the best Mexican fighters of all time despite the criticism that has always accompanied him. The truth is that although he seems to be at his best, Canelo already has quite a few years and fights behind him, so thinking about retirement is not far-fetched.

At 34 years of age and with 67 professional fights under his belt, it could be said that Canelo has little to prove in boxing, so retirement is close for the Mexican and he is already clear about it, even setting a date and one thing to do before saying goodbye.

When does Canelo Alvarez plan to retire?

During the golf tournament he organized called ‘No Golf No Life’ in its fourth edition, Canelo Alvarez spoke to the media and mentioned that he has a few more years of boxing ahead of him, with the retirement age being 37 years old.

My body is fine. Obviously I can continue fighting for several more years, but you have to be aware of things. I have always said that at 37 years of age is the right age to retire and not that boxing retires me, that’s the idea.

Canelo dreams of fighting in Japan

In addition, the fighter from Jalisco has said that one of his greatest dreams is to fight in Japan, so it is expected that this will come true before he says goodbye to the ring.
